In the first year of Zhi Shun (至順) 1330AD, Wen Zong (文宗) granted three generations of Tuo Tuo Mie Er Ji’s (脫脫蔑兒吉) ancestors posthumously as knights
(王). They were: Tuo Tuo’s great great grandfather Tan Ma Ha Er (探馬哈兒), great grandfather Cheng Hai (稱海) and grandfather Jin Zhi Er (謹只兒).
Tuo Tuo’s father was Ma Zha Er Tai 馬札兒台 and his mother was Lady Ji (薊). Their first generation was Tuo Tuo (脫脫) and Ye Xian Tie Mu Er (也先帖木兒). The second generation included Tuo Tuo’s first born Ha Li Zhang (哈利章), second son San Bao Nu (三寶奴) and the third Tuo Zhou Bin (脫周彬).
Tuo Tuo’s uncle was Bo Yan (佰顏). Bo Yan’s (佰顏) wife was called Bu Yan De Jin (卜顏的斤). Bo Yan (佰顏) was the uncle of our founder Tuo Tuo (脫脫). Wen Zong (文宗) of Yuan made him a knight (浚寧王). Hui Zong (惠宗) gave him the title of Qin Wang (秦王). He served as Tai Shi Da Cheng Xiang (太師大承相) of Yuan (元) and the title 元德上輔 was added later. He was given a golden amulet studded with tigers and dragons made of jade and seven precious stones. His descendants were allowed to inherit the title of Tarahan (塔拉罕).
Bo Yan (佰顏) was born in 1282AD, the 19th year of Zhi Yuan (至元十九年) of Kublai Khan (元世祖忽必烈) at Ren Wu (壬午). In March, era of Yuan Hui Zong, 1340AD 元惠宗 (順帝) 至正六年庚辰, he was exiled to Guangdong Province 南恩州春縣 (今廣東陽春) and died in an inn at 龍興路 (今江西南昌市) at the age of 59.
Ma Zha Er Tai (馬札兒台) was born in the 22nd year of Kublai Khan (元世祖忽必烈至元乙酉) (1285AD). Our founder’s father held the official title of Cheng Xiang (元太師中書右承相) and was titled 忠王 in the 7th year of Zhi Yuan (至元). In the 12th year, a special title 德王 was conferred on him. The Emperor ordered ministers at Court in charge of Cultural and Literary matters to build a temple and set up a tablet to commemorate him as well as endowed upon him the title of 旌忠昭德之額.
In June, the 7th year of Zhi Zheng (至正) of Yuan Hui Zong (元惠宗, 順帝), he was posted to Gansu (甘肅) and died at Xi Ning (西寧) in 1347, aged 63. Tuo Tuo’s
mother – Lady Ji (薊) died in May 1350 (10th year of Zhi Zheng) (至正十年).
Tuo Tuo (脫脫) alias Da Yong (大用). His wife was Lady 龔. Tuo Tuo (脫脫) was born in the 1st year of Yuan Zong, 1314AD (元宗延佑元年甲寅). Ha Li Zhang (哈利章) was his eldest son, San Bao Nu (三寶奴) his second and Tuo Zhou Bin (脫周彬) his third. Tuo Tuo (脫脫蔑兒吉氏) was a native of Ondorhaan (溫都爾汗) in the northern desert of Mongolia.
Yuan Hui Zong (元惠宗) ordered that Tuo Tuo be knighted as 鄭王 and held the offices of various power: 太師, 開府儀同三司上柱國軍國重事, 中書右承相, 修國史領經筵事. The Emperor granted him a renowned steed and a suit with a belt of jade and a saddle coated with beads and platinum. His descendants could also inherit the title of Darqan
(答刺罕).
At the end of the 15th year of Yuan Hui Zong, 1355AD (元惠宗至正), Hama (哈麻) falsified the Emperor’s order and sent an ambassador to have him poisoned in the region of 阿輕乞 (in Yunnan). He was 42.
Yuan Shun Di (元順帝) posthumously gave him the title of 護國長城忠烈王, the invincible great general and the various positions of 逍遙神宮, 元勛一位, 正功一品 and had him upgraded to three Court levels.
